Margaret Gray
Founding Partner — 24 years experience
“Family law at its best is not about winning — it is about protecting the people who matter most while preserving dignity for everyone involved.”
Biography
Margaret Gray co-founded Ashford Gray in 1999 and has led the firm's family law and estate planning practices for over two decades. She is widely regarded as one of the finest family lawyers in England and Wales, with particular expertise in high-net-worth divorce, international child abduction, and complex asset division involving business interests, trusts, and overseas holdings.
A graduate of the London School of Economics and Yale Law School, where she graduated Order of the Coif, Margaret trained at Mishcon de Reya before striking out to build the firm she envisioned — one where every family law client receives the same dedication and expertise as the most complex corporate matter.
Margaret's practice spans the full spectrum of family and private client law: from contested high-value divorces heard in the Family Division of the High Court, to sensitive international relocation applications, to the drafting of comprehensive estate plans for ultra-high-net-worth families with assets spanning multiple jurisdictions.
Her clients include members of the House of Lords, senior executives of global corporations, prominent entertainers, and members of royal families from several nations. She is known for her exceptional negotiation skills, her ability to cut through complexity, and her genuine care for the children caught in the middle of the most difficult family breakdowns.
